The Blackhawks team physician, Michael Terry, said of the disorder \u201c&#8230; becoming more and more difficult to treat and control with conventional medications while he plays hockey. If Hossa is not eligable for LTIR then his cap of $5.275 million would count against Chicago. The Blackhawks are already a team with some cap issues, so this would be a real problem for them.<\/p>\n<p>From CSN-Chicago, \u201cA team can be 10 percent over it during the summer, and a team must be at or below it the day the regular season begins. If the Blackhawks place Hossa on LTIR, it wouldn\u2019t take effect until the second day of the regular season. So on Day 1 of the season, the Blackhawks would still be carrying Hossa\u2019s $5.275 cap hit.<i>\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I would be shocked if NHL report doesn&#8217;t reaffirm original CHI diagnosis on Hossa. I&#8217;m guessing Hossa will be eligible to be put on LTIR.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TSNBobMcKenzie\/status\/914975524044320769?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">October 2, 2017<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As Bob McKenzie tweeted, it looks like the league is going to rule that Hossa is eligible for LTIR.<\/p>\n<p>After playing in the NHL for almost 20 years, winning three Stanley Cups, scoring over 500 goals and 1000 points, it looks like Marian Hossa\u2019s career is finally coming to a close.<\/p>\n<h3>Cap Space<\/h3>\n<p>They Blackhawks are likely to sign defenceman <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fransco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cody Franson<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>with some of the cap space they will be granted with the move.
