The team has confirmed that the deal is worth $80 million. According to an August 2nd <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/report-eichel-sabres-in-talks-on-lengthy-deal-1.820661\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">report from The Associated Press<\/a>, Eichel was said to be negotiating this eight year contract with the club. The report indicated that the deal has been in the works for quite some time.<\/p>\n<p>From the report: <em>&#8220;The person spoke on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday because the talks have been private since formal negotiations began a little over a month ago.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Jack Eichel Signs Eight Year Contract with Buffalo Sabres<\/h3>\n<p>Eichel, 20, led all Buffalo Sabres last season in scoring with 24 goals, 33 assists, 57 points in 61 games. He missed the first two months to injury.<\/p>\n<p>While Buffalo Sabres owner <strong>Terry Pegula<\/strong> wouldn&#8217;t comment on the specifics of the earlier AP report; he did tell TSN at the that there was a mutual interest in keeping Eichel in Buffalo for a long time. McDavid will become the top paid NHL player with an annual salary of $12.5 million per season. Eichel did not quite match McDavid&#8217;s deal and also goes underneath what NHL veterans <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/priceca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carey Price<\/a><\/strong>,<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/toewsjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonathan Toews<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kanepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patrick Kane<\/a><\/strong> receive at $10.5 million per season.<\/p>\n<p>Eichel was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/report-eichel-won-t-sign-extension-if-bylsma-remains-sabres-coach-1.728316\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">rumoured to be in a feud<\/a> with former Buffalo Sabres head coach<strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bylsmda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dan Bylsma<\/a><\/strong>, with reports alleging that number 15 would not sign with the Sabres if Bylsma was still behind the bench. While Eichel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/jack-eichel-denies-rift-with-buffalo-sabres-coach-dan-bylsma\/c-288942598\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">denied the report<\/a>, Bylsma and general manager <strong>Tim Murray<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/04\/20\/buffalo-sabres-fire-coach-dan-bylsma-gm-tim-murray\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> were fired in the 2016-2017 off season<\/a>. Dan Bylsma has been replaced behind the bench by <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonhockey.com\/2017\/06\/15\/phil-housley-buffalo-sabres-head-coach\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">former Nashville Predators assistant coach and former Sabres defenceman<\/a> <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/houslph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phil Housley<\/a><\/strong>.
