It’s time for a Fourth of July edition of NHL rumours. Today may be America’s birthday, but there are plenty of NHL rumours to talk about. The Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> and Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> are looking to be in the mix in the Eastern Conference next season. Both clubs have made some moves, but more may be in the offing. Toronto Maple Leafs<\/h3>\n

Rumour: The Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli said the Leafs need to make some moves to become salary cap compliant and find room to sign restricted free agent goalie Ilya Samsonov<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Deadline for RFAs to elect salary arbitration is Wed. July 5 @ 5pm ET.<\/p>\n

Brad Treliving mentioned a second buyout window in Nashville, wouldn\u2019t be surprised to see Ilya Samsonov file – which opens that second window for Leafs if need be.<\/p>\n
