Jones played nine seasons with the club from 1992-2001, but has been part of the organization for much longer. The Brantford, Ontarion native has been spent the last 23 seasons as part of the NBC Sports Philadelphia crew that’s covered the team. He has also served as a national analysts for NBC Sports and for Turner Sports most recently.

Briere was the team’s interim general manager after the club parted ways with Chuck Fletcher. The former NHL forward spent six seasons with the club and helped lead the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2009-10. Briere has been a part of the Flyers’ front office since after he retired in 2015. The Gatineau, Quebec native helped run the Maine Mariners of the ECHL before working as special assistant to the GM.

Impact of Philadelphia Flyers Front Office Changes

Today is a start of a rebrand of the Flyers organization. Adding a new front office team and darkening their familiar orange is the start of that. However, the Flyers do need some work if they want to contender.

There are some good players like Carter Hart in the organization. However, there’s going to have to be a long look at what needs to be done to fix the team’s woes. John Tortorella seems to be willing to be part of the rebuild. However, the ball is in Jones and Briere’s court on if they want to make a change down the way.

One thought the Flyers would look outside the organization for a fresh outlook. However, Jones and Briere are familiar with the rich history and the winning traditions of the club.

Main photo by: James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

There’s a new era in the City of Brotherly Love and the Philadelphia Flyers front office has confirmed some changes.
