Montreal and Sean Farrell have agreed to a three-year contract late Sunday morning. The deal is a three-year contract that runs to the end of the 2024-25 season. This deal will carry a cap hit of around $1.16 million per season. The Hopkinton, Mass. native totaled 30 goals in 58 career games with the Crimson. Montreal took the 21-year-old in the fourth round, 124th overall of the 2020 NHL Draft. Farrell helped Harvard win the ECAC men&#8217;s tournament title, but Ohio State eliminated Harvard in the first round of the NCAA tournament.<\/p>\n<p>He joins Henry Thrun as players that have signed their pro contracts over the weekend. Thrun signed a two-year deal <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2023\/03\/25\/san-jose-sharks-sign-henry-thrun-contract\/\" target=\"_self\">with the San Jose Sharks<\/a> on Saturday. Fellow Crimson teammate Matthew Coronato has yet to decide if he wants to ink <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2023\/03\/26\/nhl-rumours-calgary-flames-seeking-to-ink-college-draft-pick\/\" target=\"_self\">his contract with the Calgary Flames<\/a>. The Harvard trio was coached by former Boston Bruins player <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/donatte01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-03-26_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ted Donato<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Impact of Sean Farrell Contract<\/h3>\n<p>Farrell comes highly-touted out of college and has also played for the United States on the international level. He played for America at the 2020 Winter Olympics and the 2022 IIHF World Juniors. Farrell recorded two goals and four assists during that tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The former USHL player of the year with the Chicago Steel joins some already solid college talents like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/caufico01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-03-26_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cole Caufield<\/a> in Montreal. This team has used a lot of college players help build their prospect pool. Montreal has a bright future with younger players like Caufield and team captain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/suzukni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-03-26_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Suzuki<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Farrell will join the Canadiens for the team&#8217;s upcoming games against the Buffalo Sabres and Philadelphia Flyers.
