Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill<\/a> announced Thursday afternoon that injured forward Mason Marchment<\/a> will to miss three-to-four weeks with a knee injury sustained against the Seattle Kraken on Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Injury update from Jim Nill:<\/p>\n

Tyler Seguin<\/a> is recovering from his leg laceration and skating on his own in Frisco. Expected to practice with team on Monday and will re-evaluate after that.<\/p>\n

Mason Marchment is expected to be out approximately 3-4 weeks with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Marchment, in his first season with the Stars as a free agent acquisition from the Florida Panthers, has not matched the production created last season with Florida in the Lone Star State, as his 31-point total is 16 less than last season in 13 more games. Before the injury, Marchment’s production had improved with new linemates<\/a>, including Max Domi<\/a>, with six points in his last five, including three in a 10-4 win against Buffalo on March 9th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Mason Marchment Injury Has Him Out 3-4 Weeks<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite a significant decrease in production, best explained by a five percent decrease in on-ice shooting percentage (via Evolving-Hockey), Marchment has instilled himself as an integral part of the Dallas middle six forward dynamic. His 6’4, 210-pound frame allows for incredible strength on the puck, which enables his incredibly high d-zone puck retrieval rate, pushing the play into the offensive zone effectively. From this position, Marchment is often active in the rush, opening into lanes and finding space to employ his tendency toward excess shots in the offensive zone.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Impact on Marchment and the Stars<\/span><\/h3>\n

Marchment will miss most of the remaining 14 games in the Stars’ regular season. As of today, his estimated return date lies between April 6th-April 13th, giving him just a small slate of games to prepare for the postseason if Dallas qualifies.\u00a0 However, in this context, his absence may extend out of caution, with the intent of maintaining full team health.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the short term, Dallas may be somewhat tested beyond their top line, with fellow winger Tyler Seguin also recovering from an injury, alongside Luke Glendening<\/a>.\u00a0 Luckily, considering the high-end talent of the Stars, they should see little-to-no significant damage.<\/p>\n
