Its time for another round of NHL rumours to start your Friday. We’re one week past the NHL trade deadline, but there are still a number of rumours to go around. General managers now shift their focus to the off-season and locking down players for the future. There are plenty of restricted and unrestricted free agents that are team executives will have their eyes on. Today’s NHL rumours takes a look at a possible Ethan Bear<\/a> extension with the Vancouver Canucks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Canucks Discuss Ethan Bear Extension<\/h3>\n

Rumour: Bear’s agent, Jason Davidson, appeared on the Donnie & Dhali Show<\/a> on CHEK to talk a number of things. Davidson discussed when Bear would return to the lineup and a possible extension. Host Don Taylor asked Davidson about the state of the negotiations and the agent said that both sides are optimistic.<\/p>\n

Davidson said that the two sides talked at the All-Star Break, but took a break. Co-host Rick Dhaliwal then asked about the term for Bear and it would be a one or three-year deal according to Davidson. The agent then added that Bear would be fine with a one-year contract.<\/p>\n

What an Ethan Bear Extension Means<\/h3>\n

The Regina, Saskatchewan is currently making $2.2 million after being dealt<\/a> from the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>. Bear has three goals and 14 points in 46 games this season with the Canucks. He had been pairing with Quinn Hughes<\/a> and the duo was settling in under new coach Rick Tocchet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bear is an arbitration-eligible RFA along with Travis Dermott<\/a>, Vitali Kravtsov<\/a> and Noah Juulsen<\/a>. It will be interesting to see what kind of contracts these RFAs will get. However, it seems that Bear and Juulsen will be a priority in the off-season. The Canucks do have some decisions to make in the summer, but GM Patrik Allvin knows Bear will be part of the future.<\/p>\n
