The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/hurricanes\/\" target=\"_self\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> are looking to close the first half with another victory. The Sabres&#8217; third-rated goal-scoring offence will go against the Canes&#8217; third-rated goals-against.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Both teams are playing well and a win for Buffalo would leapfrog them over the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, Carolina squeaks out the victory.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><em>Prediction: Hurricanes win 3-2 in overtime.<\/em><\/div>\n<h3>Boston Bruins vs Toronto Maple Leafs<\/h3>\n<h4>Head-to-Head: Bruins 1-1 Maple Leafs<\/h4>\n<div>Our featured game has a potential first-round <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2023\/01\/31\/nhl-matchup-maple-leafs-vs-bruins-predictions\/\" target=\"_self\">Stanley Cup Playoff matchup<\/a> between the Bruins and the Leafs. Boston has lost three straight games for the first time this season. However, the Bruins still have only lost seven times in regulation this season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/u\/ullmali01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-02-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Linus Ullmark<\/a> is slated to be the starter in goal for Boston. Ullmark is still carrying a .936 save percentage and 1.98 goals against average. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pastrda01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-02-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Pastrnak<\/a> leads in goals (38) and assists (33).
