Today\u2019s featured game is between the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2023\/01\/22\/nhl-rumours-boston-bruins-david-pastrnak-contract\/\" target=\"_self\">Boston Bruins<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2023\/01\/21\/cole-caufield-season-ending-injury\/\" target=\"_self\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a>.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">NHL Predictions: Boston Bruins vs Montreal Canadiens<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Florida Panthers vs Pittsburgh Penguins<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Head to Head: Panthers 0-0 Penguins<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The first game on the NHL Predictions slate is a crucial matchup. Both the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/panthers\/\" target=\"_self\">Florida Panthers<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/penguins\/\" target=\"_self\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> are fighting for playoff spots. Pittsburgh occupies the second wild card spot, but Florida is right on their heels. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One factor that does not bode well for Florida is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyfaceoff.com\/teams\/florida-panthers\/line-combinations\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">both of their goalies<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bobrose01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sergei Bobrovsky<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/knighsp01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Spencer Knight<\/a>) are out. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jarrytr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tristan Jarry<\/a> did return for the Penguins and has been brilliant since returning. Despite Florida boasting a lethal attack up front, it does not overcome the injuries between the pipes. A Western Conference team, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/kings\/\" target=\"_self\">Los Angeles Kings<\/a>, travels to take on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/flyers\/\" target=\"_self\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>. These two have met before and the Flyers prevailed 4-2.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is easy to be down on the Flyers, but they have been good in the month of January. They&#8217;ve gone 7-4 throughout the month, beating some premiere talent. Los Angeles looks to get back to their winning ways as they&#8217;ve done 2-3 in their last five games. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A good goalie matchup between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hartca01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carter Hart<\/a> and Phoenix Copley could be on tap as both have exceeded expectations set for them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Prediction: Kings defeat Flyers 4-2<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Minnesota Wild vs Tampa Bay Lightning<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Head to Head: Wild 1-0 Lightning<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The next game on our NHL Predictions is the second of two meetings. A competitive <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/wild\/\" target=\"_self\">Minnesota Wild<\/a> club travels to take on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/lightning\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Lightning.<\/a> Minnesota took the first game in a 5-1 beatdown. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The talent in this game is excellent. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stamkst01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steven Stamkos<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kucheni01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikita Kucherov<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kapriki01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kirill Kaprizov<\/a> are the players to watch for. Stamkos recently scored his 500th career goal and what a milestone for him. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One key factor is special teams. Tampa Bay has the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nhl\/team\/tampa-bay-lightning-31\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">second-best power-play unit<\/a> and Minnesota is middle of the pack in killing penalties. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/sharks\/\" target=\"_self\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> take on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/redwings\/\" target=\"_self\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. Detroit won the first matchup in a 7-4 high-scoring battle. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Detroit is not entirely out of the playoff picture, but San Jose is. However, each team has the rumour mill swirling around them in regard to the premiere talent on their roster. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/meierti01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Timo Meier<\/a> is a prime candidate to be moved and the entire world is appreciating the Norris calibre season <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/karlser01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Karlsson<\/a> is having. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Detroit captain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/larkidy01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dylan Larkin<\/a> is on pace for another career year and is a large reason for their success. After a beat down by the Bruins, San Jose gets back in the win column.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Prediction: Sharks defeat Red Wings 3-2<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Vegas Golden Knights vs New Jersey Devils<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Head to Head: Golden Knights 0-0 Devils<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">This NHL Predictions game features two of the best teams in their respective conferences. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/vegas-golden-knights\/\" target=\"_self\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/a> continue their road trip against the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/devils\/\" target=\"_self\">New Jersey Devils<\/a>. Vegas is a very good road team (15-4-2), whereas New Jersey has a 12-10-2 record on home ice. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Both teams have key players injured with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/stonema01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Stone<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/theodsh01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shea Theodore<\/a> for Vegas and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marinjo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Marino<\/a> for New Jersey. But there are still impact players in each lineup. He has 10 goals in the month of January and 9 points in his last five games. The Boston Bruins travel north to take on the Montreal Canadiens. It is always exciting when these two teams meet, regardless of where they are in the standings. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The injury bug has plagued both teams. First-overall pick Juraf Slafkovsky (3 months), and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/caufico01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cole Caufield<\/a> (done for the season) are the key injuries for Montreal. Boston has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/n\/nosekto01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tomas Nosek<\/a> out for the next four weeks, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/debruja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-23_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake DeBrusk<\/a> remains out, but it skating today. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is not a secret that the Boston Bruins are the superior team. They are deep and have one of the best goalie tandems in the league. In addition, they have some of the best <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nhl\/team\/2022-23-boston-bruins-6\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">special teams units<\/a> in the league (3rd best PP, 1st best PK). One problem that could plague Montreal is they&#8217;ve allowed the fifth most goals (171), and Boston has scored 175 goals this season.
