Each day, Last Word on Hockey takes a look at the games that are happening and gives our predictions for each one, breaking down head-to-head and other factors that may play in. We also have a featured game of the day, which is considered must-watch TV. Today\u2019s featured game is between the Nashville Predators and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

NHL Predictions<\/span><\/h2>\n

Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers<\/span><\/h3>\n

Head to Head: Capitals 2 – 0 Flyers<\/span><\/h4>\n

The first game on our NHL Predictions is a metropolitan division showdown. Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals<\/a> travel to take on the Philadelphia Flyers<\/a>. Washington is soaring at the right time, and they find themselves in a playoff position. <\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, for the first time all season, the Capitals are getting healthy. John Carlson<\/a> remains on the IR, but reinforcements came at the right time. Tom Wilson<\/a> and Nicklas Backstrom<\/a> have returned from injuries. The depth and talent on the roster is great, and it’s coming at the right time. <\/span><\/p>\n

A great duel is on deck between the pipes with Darcy Kuemper<\/a> and Carter Hart<\/a>. Kuemper is 3-0-2 in his last five with two shutout victories, whereas Hart is 2-3 and a subpar 3.88 GAA, but the team in front of him does him no favours. With Washington peaking at the right time, it doesn’t bode well for the Flyers. <\/span><\/p>\n

Prediction: Capitals defeat Flyers 4-1<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Nashville Predators vs Toronto Maple Leafs<\/span><\/h3>\n

Head to Head: Predators 0-0 Maple Leafs<\/span><\/h4>\n

Tonight’s featured game takes place right in the heart of Canada. The Toronto Maple Leafs play host to the Nashville Predators. Nashville is on the outside looking in, but Toronto is sitting pretty in the eastern conference. <\/span><\/p>\n

This game features a high-scoring Maple Leafs squad. Auston Matthews<\/a>, Mitch Marner<\/a>, William Nylander<\/a>, and John Tavares<\/a> have been feasting from a production standpoint. However, there is one obstacle standing in their way. Nashville goaltender Juuse Saros<\/a> has been sensational for the team<\/a>. He is 4-1 in his last five starts and is rocking a 2.00 GAA, and a .948 save percentage. But even with his rock-solid goaltending, Toronto\u2019s snipers are better than what Nashville offers. <\/span><\/p>\n

Prediction: Maple Leafs defeat Predators 3-2.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
