Today\u2019s featured game is between the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/12\/07\/nhl-first-quarter-analysis-pacific-division-part-two\/\" target=\"_self\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/12\/16\/podcast-alex-ovechkin-goal-record\/\" target=\"_self\">Anaheim Ducks<\/a>.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">NHL Predictions: San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Arizona Coyotes vs Chicago Blackhawks<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Head to Head: Coyotes 0-0 Blackhawks<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tonight&#8217;s first matchup is between the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/coyotes\/\" target=\"_self\">Arizona Coyotes<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago Blackhawks.<\/a> All eyes remain on these two teams as they can make some heatwave come the trade deadline. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The desert dogs have been good as of late. Prior to losing to both Florida teams, they strung together three impressive wins against playoff squads. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/chychja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jakob Chychrun<\/a> has become a point-per-game player since returning, making him a must-watch name. Chicago is coming off a five-game losing streak and has been outscored 19-5. Tonight&#8217;s second game on the NHL Predictions has the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/islanders\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Islanders<\/a> taking on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/flames\/\" target=\"_self\">Calgary Flames.<\/a> New York took the first meeting 4-3 back on Long Island. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Both of these teams are in the thick of things. They both sit in the wild card slot and are looking to continue the playoff push. The one awesome thing to watch in this game is goaltending. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marksja02.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jacob Markstrom<\/a> isn&#8217;t the same as he was last season, but he is still capable of giving his team a chance to win. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sorokil01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ilya Sorokin<\/a>, though, is on another planet. He is rocking a 2.29 GAA, .926 save percentage, and his 19.1 GSAX <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypuck.com\/goalies.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ranks second<\/a> in the league. And that will be the difference in tonight&#8217;s matchup. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Prediction: Islanders defeat Flames 4-3<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">San Jose Sharks vs Anaheim Ducks<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Head to Head: Sharks 1-2 Ducks<\/span><\/h4>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Tonight&#8217;s featured matchup on the NHL Predictions is a battle of California. The San Jose Sharks take on the Anaheim Ducks. These two teams have met before and, shockingly have had some high-scoring affairs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Anaheim is in the running for Connor Bedard. They sit at the bottom of the conference and the division. The team is just as bad offensively as they are defensively. <a href=\"https:\/\/moneypuck.com\/teams.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">They&#8217;ve scored<\/a> the second-fewest goals while allowing the most goals in the league. The only bright spots are their young stars, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zegratr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trevor Zegras<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/terrytr01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Troy Terry<\/a>. However, confidence is high after shutting out the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/stars\/\" target=\"_self\">Dallas Stars<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">San Jose is 2-3 in their last five games. They don&#8217;t fair much better than Anaheim, as they have a -23 goal differential. Aside from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/karlser01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=lastwordonsports.com&amp;utm_campaign=2023-01-05_hr\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Erik Karlsson<\/a> catching lightning in a bottle and looking like 2016 Karlsson, their penalty kill ranks third in the league. San Jose won the last meeting and all but one game has been high scoring.
