Once again on Saturday night, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/10\/22\/vancouver-canucks-return-home-with-nearly-empty-suitcase\/\" target=\"_self\">social media was littered<\/a> with jersey-throwing content. All is well in Carolina. Coming off a loss, the Hurricanes will be drooling over this matchup. In the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canucks\/\" target=\"_self\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> mind, this could be a win to turn the ship around. Do I think that will happen? No. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/demkoth01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thatcher Demko<\/a> is not Thatcher Demko. After surpassing<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fleurma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Marc Andre Fleur<\/a>y with -6.16 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2020\/05\/03\/understanding-nhl-analytics-a-beginners-guide-part-3\/\" target=\"_self\">GSAX<\/a>, it makes you wonder if there&#8217;s something else to the story.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"_KxHop0-TQVoUrsqrEyvGg\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/1237222415\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'_KxHop0-TQVoUrsqrEyvGg',sig:'h1iucl-sZj3rTqmbxO-7TtOtgBCi_qEYWFpzznRw8M0=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'1237222415',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/hurricanes\/\" target=\"_self\">Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> are a Stanley Cup favourite. They dominate teams by having the puck 65% of the time, leading to them being one of the best teams on both ends of the ice. Although they haven&#8217;t seen results, Carolina loves shots from the point. Vancouver will definitely need to key in on this as they&#8217;re horrible in front of their own net so limiting these shots against will be crucial. On that, Carolina will want to pounce on this opportunity. With the backend of Vancouver, I don&#8217;t see this one ending too pretty.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hurricanes win 5-1<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Toronto Maple Leafs vs Vegas Golden Knights<\/h3>\n<h4>Head-to-Head: Maple Leafs 0-0 Golden Knights<\/h4>\n<p>The matchup of two of the most disappointing hockey teams, at least in the playoffs. Both these teams have had their indication of success players step up. Those two being 11 million dollar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/tavarjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Tavares<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/expectedbyanth\/status\/1582756724427018242?s=61&amp;t=1EkaNr9N7uhRxz4YP7_jYw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">limited effort<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eicheja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Eichel<\/a>. Toronto has had some pretty bad luck finishing-wise with -6.1 <a href=\"https:\/\/jetsnation.ca\/news\/expected-goals-xg-models-explained\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">goals above expected<\/a>. These two teams have had a very similar start with Vegas having the edge due to their defensive play. Credits to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/06\/14\/vegas-golden-knights-hire-new-head-coach\/\" target=\"_self\">Bruce Cassidy<\/a>. The Golden Knights should look to line match when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/riellmo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Morgan Rielly<\/a> is on the ice as he&#8217;s struggled hardcore defensively with 8 goals against at 5v5 to start the year. This game could very much come down to special teams. The Maple Leafs are dominant in that area whereas the Golden Knights have struggled immensely.<\/p>\n<p>Vegas certainly plays a more structured game compared to Toronto. In net, Brock University legend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/t\/thomplo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logan Thompson<\/a> has carried over last season&#8217;s excellence to the 2022-23 season. The Leaf&#8217;s goaltending woes have carried over from last season with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrama02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Murray<\/a> getting the unfortunate luck of an early season injury. Until then,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/samsoil01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Ilya Samsonov<\/a>\u00a0is holding down the fort. So far the former Capital has done a great job. If the Leafs can limit the high-danger chances, Samsonov will make the needed saves. The same goes for Thompson. Both teams play a similar game so it should be a good one.
