The regular season has already started in Europe, but we’re a day away from the official start. This means the NHL rumours are going to be piling up very quickly. Teams have to make some tough choices about their rosters. Some surprising roster cuts may be on the way and there may be some early-season deals to be made. David Alter of Inside the Maple Leafs reports that the Leafs are trying to convince the veteran forward to be open for a trade to anyone. Simmonds has a 10-team no-movement clause, but Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said management sent other clubs a note about his availability. The 31 other clubs were told that they can ask about trading for the 1,000-plus game NHL veteran.<\/p>\n
