Split between the Minnesota Wild and the Canadiens, Pitlick scored 15 goals and added 22 assists for 37 points in 66 games. Nine goals and 22 points came with the Canadiens in 42 games.

Over his career, Pitlick has registered 15 goals and 39 points in 77 games. Pitlick was drafted by the Nashville Predators in the third round, 76th overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He has seen a few different teams during his NHL career. However, he has now decided to stay in Montreal, at least for the time being.

Canadiens Strike Gold Again on Waiver Wire

Much like they did when they claimed Paul Byron on waivers from the Calgary Flames back in 2015, the Canadiens have struck gold once again on the waiver wire with Pitlick. Pitlick was off to a solid start with the Wild scoring six goals and 11 points in 20 games. However, they made the decision to put Pitlick on waivers and the rest is history. Pitlick was a very versatile player for the Canadiens, moving up and down the lineup and playing on both special teams. While he may be better suited in a bottom-six role, having a player who can move around as needed, as well as play all three forward positions is certainly a luxury.

Pitlick being acquired by the Canadiens was essentially a family reunion of sorts. The Canadiens drafted his brother Rhett in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. They also then acquired his cousin Tyler in a trade with the Calgary Flames that sent Tyler Toffoli to Calgary.

$1.1M AAV @Sportsnet https://t.co/ngIjkVglot

— Eric Engels (@EricEngels) July 16, 2022

Main Photo

Embed from Getty Images

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have re-signed Rem Pitlick to a new two-year contract worth $1.1 million per season.
