The Bruins have a core on the blueline for year’s to come with potential Norris candidate in Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm, and Brandon Carlo. Jeremy Swayman has proved to be the man in net as well as hugging partner Linus Ullmark. This is a Bruins roster that needs improvements. They are capable of contending. Additionally, a retool as well as a rebuild is right around the corner so contending is important right now.

Jim Montgomery’s Record

Jim Montgomery is the new coach for the Boston Bruins. The coach comes in with experience that carries a winning pedigree with him. Montgomery had previous head coaching stints with the Dallas Stars. Having to step down due to some off-ice issues, he was a solid coach and had the team headed in the right direction. He boasts a record of 61-43-10. He was currently with the St. Louis Blues as an assistant and had the job of running the powerplay. The Blues finished the season with a 29% success rate which ranked second in the league. That is huge for a Bruins team that struggled towards the end of the season.

Don Sweeney: "Jim has a winning history, and throughout the interview process he conveyed his ability to connect with all types of players while also demanding that his teams play with structure.
