He has put up 130 goals and 277 assists for 357 career points in 621 career games. He was originally drafted in the first round, fifth overall of the 2011 NHL draft by the New York Islanders.

Last season he scored a career-high 21 goals. Strome also achieved 33 assists for 54 points. He also added 69 minutes in penalties. His possession numbers were 55.6 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 12.4.

What This Means for the Future

The 28-year-old will bring solid production numbers to his new team. The two-way forward gave some depth to the New York Rangers. However the Rangers opted to move on today as they signed free agent centre Vincent Trocheck.

During the regular season, Strome increased his value by demonstrating his ability to succeed in the top six. This new contract reflects this. However, the Ontario native physically missed Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final series and seemed ineffective during the remainder of the series. It was later reported Strome had an injury that may need surgery during the off-season.

Strome brings experience to a young Ducks forward core that features players like Troy Terry, Trevor Zegras, Isac Lundestrom and will soon add Mason McTavish. He will be expected to be a leader for the young core.

Main Photo:

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – MAY 03: Ryan Strome #16 of the New York Rangers celebrates a first period goal by Adam Fox #23 against the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game One of the First Round of the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on May 03, 2022 in New York City.
