Kakko got tangled up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bertuty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Bertuzzi<\/a> and fell awkwardly on his right leg in the corner. He did not return for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n<p>Kakko has only played for the Rangers in his three-year NHL career. He has seven goals and nine assists in 41 games this season. The Turku, Finland native has a Corsi for of 51.7 and a relative Corsi of 6.8. Kakko has 26 goals and 30 assists in 155 career games with the Blueshirts. New York drafted him second overall of the 2019 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Kakko <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/10\/17\/new-york-rangers-place-kaapo-kakko-on-ir\/\" target=\"_self\">spent two-and-a-half months on the injured reserve<\/a> with an upper-body injury. Rangers head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gallage01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gerard Gallant<\/a> didn&#8217;t think the injury was two serious, but that seems to be not the case. New York is also <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/04\/10\/tyler-motte-injury-will-hurt-new-york-rangers\/\" target=\"_self\">dealing with the loss<\/a> of forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mottety01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tyler Motte<\/a> for the rest of the regular season. However, they hope he&#8217;s back for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.<\/p>\n<h3>What it Means<\/h3>\n<p>Kakko&#8217;s injury pre-trade deadline would have disastrous, but the Blueshirts <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/03\/23\/evaluating-the-new-york-rangers-trade-deadline\/\" target=\"_self\">trade deadline acquisitions<\/a> have helped. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/coppan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andrew Copp<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vatrafr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Vatrano<\/a> have been welcome additions on the lower-half of the lineup. New York was very top-heavy before the trades, but there&#8217;s more balance in the lineup.<\/p>\n<p>Tough guy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/reavery01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ryan Reaves<\/a> will likely draw into the lineup to replace Kakko. General Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drurych01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Drury<\/a> has done pretty well to cover for the possible spate of injuries the Rangers have encountered.
