She has a great mind for the game and experience and influence at all levels,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/canucks\/news\/cammi-granato-named-assistant-general-manager\/c-330669246\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said Jim Rutherford<\/a>, Vancouver&#8217;s President, Hockey Operations.<\/p>\n<h2>Third Woman Hired By Canucks This Season<\/h2>\n<p>The Vancouver Canucks have made strides toward gender equity this season hiring three women to their hockey operations staff.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, the Canucks hired former player agent \u00c9milie Castonguay as an assistant general manager. Vancouver also hired Rachel Doerrie as an Analyst, working in their Hockey Analytics department.<\/p>\n<p>Castonguay and Granato are the only women working at the assistant general manager role in the NHL. No woman has served as a general manager in NHL history.<\/p>\n<h3>Another Accolade For Granato<\/h3>\n<p>Cammi Granato has had a career filled with accomplishments. Joining the Vancouver Canucks is another on her resume.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am honoured to join the Vancouver Canucks and the hockey operations leadership group that Jim Rutherford and his team have assembled,&#8221; said Granato. &#8220;It&#8217;s a dream to have an opportunity like this in the city that I call home, and with an exciting young team with championship aspirations.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Granato is not only a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, but also the IIHF Hall of Fame and USA Hockey Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n<p>The Olympic gold medallist and World Champion with Team USA,\u00a0 won the\u00a0 2007NHL&#8217;s Lester Patrick Award.<\/p>\n<p>Hailing from Downers Grove, Illinois, Granato played her college hockey for Providence College, and also attended Concordia University in Montreal.<\/p>\n<p>The Vancouver Canucks recently filled their general manager position<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2022\/01\/26\/patrik-allvin-general-manager-canucks\/\" target=\"_self\"> hiring former<\/a> Pittsburgh Penguins assistant GM Patrick Allvin.
