He’s faced numerous suspensions and fines over the years. The most recent one is for swinging his stick at Tristan Jarry’s head. This came after he was being escorted away by the referee following a scrum at the end of the game.

Boston’s Brad Marchand has been offered an in-person hearing via Zoom for Roughing/High-sticking Pittsburgh’s Tristan Jarry. This wouldn’t be the first time this season Marchand has been suspended either. He was suspended for three games on November 29th, 2021 for slew footing Vancouver Canucks defenceman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. So far this season Marchand has 21 goals and 28 assists for 49 points in 39 games. He also has 67 penalty minutes in that time.

Impact on the Bruins

A Marchand suspension will be difficult for the Bruins to handle. While he may be a pest that has earned him a reputation of disdain by fans of other teams, he is still an incredible player that will hurt his team with his absence. It may be easier to replace Marchand than it has been in the past, however. The Bruins are no longer solely dependent on one line, and even have another fantastic left-winger in Taylor Hall now that can serve as a replacement for the time being. While Hall is an incredible player as well, the Bruins would obviously prefer to have both Hall and Marchand to offer a 1-2 punch along the left side and to spread their talent around the top-6. The Bruins will need to make due until Marchand can return.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Boston Bruins left-winger Brad Marchand is facing a suspension as he is offered an in-person hearing.
