With the NHL season hitting the halfway mark that means the Last Word on Hockey Show is back again on the MAD Radio Network<\/a>. \u00a0Your host\u00a0Jim Biringer from lastwordonhockey.com<\/a> was back alongside Marc Weiss and Coach Jay. In this week\u2019s episode, the boys discuss the Evander Kane<\/a> signing, Henrik Lundqvist<\/a> retirement night\u00a0and much much more.<\/p>\n

The Last Word on Hockey Show: Evander Kane, Henrik Lundqvist, Sergei Zubov<\/h2>\n

Henrik Lundqvist<\/h3>\n

Jim welcomes everyone back to the show. The boys pay their respects to the fallen NYPD police officers before talking about Henrik Lundqvist night with the Rangers. Jim talks about Lundqvist and what he meant to the Rangers. How he deserves this honour despite not winning a Stanley Cup. The boys talk about how he carried the Rangers to some deep playoff runs especially during the 2012-2016 era. Coach Jay and Marc Weiss give their perspectives as Rangers fans and what he meant to the fans, the city, and the team. Truly one of the classier guys in the game and will go straight to the Hockey Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

Evander Kane<\/h3>\n

Jim then switches over to the Edmonton Oilers and the signing of Evander Kane. The boys discuss how he will fit with the Oilers. Jim does not think this is the hole they needed to fill.<\/a> Coach Jay and Marc talk about their issues on defence and in between the pipes and what goalies they could go after at the trade deadline. It will be interesting to see how things play out long-term with the Oilers.<\/p>\n

Sergei Zubov\/Dallas Stars<\/h3>\n

The boys then talk about Sergei Zubov<\/a>‘s night in Dallas. Marc and Jay discuss Zubov’s time with the Rangers and how it was tough to see him traded. But Brian Leetch<\/a> was there so the transition was easier. Jim notes Zubov was so crucial to Dallas’s Stanely Cup run in 1999 and then again going back to the final in 2000. Him Derian Hatcher<\/a> was a great duo.<\/p>\n

The boys then talk about the current Dallas Stars and their resurgence in the standings. It appears the trade talk is on hold for John Klingberg<\/a>, though he still wants to be moved, but pump the breaks on Joe Pavelski<\/a>. Dallas is back in it as Braden Holtby<\/a> has taken over as the number. If the Stars can stay in it, they have a chance to get back to the final. As Jay notes ashame Anton Khudobin<\/a> tailed off from his bubble run in 2020.<\/p>\n

The boys also go around the rest of the league and talk about the home-ice advantage for the Colorado Avalanche<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Florida Panthers<\/a>, plus discuss the Arizona Coyotes<\/a> arena situation.<\/p>\n
