The Ducks are in tight to start and can’t afford to lose their starter if the goal is to be competitive this year. Gibson is the backbone of this team and any success will come through him. He has struggled to stay healthy in the past few seasons which has been a major concern.

Part of that may be because of how much the Anaheim Ducks have asked of him. They were playing him on pace for upwards of 60-65 games some years, which is way too much for a goalie these days. It doesn’t sound like Gibson should be out for too long. But lower-body injuries aren’t something teams take lightly for a goalie. Gibson has played all 323 of his NHL games with the Ducks. He was drafted by them back in 2011, 39th overall.

What Does This Mean?

Any injury is unfortunate, especially one to your starter. However, the Ducks will have to battle through if they want to try and compete in the Pacific division. Terry will also be missed in a depth role this game. However, it gives Jones a chance to show what he can bring to this Ducks lineup. A good impression could see him earning more ice time down the road too.

We will keep an eye on Gibson. Hopefully, for everyone’s sake, he is back soon.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Anaheim Ducks have received some bad news early into the season.
