Before he made it to the show, he played for Boston College from 2008 to 2011, winning the 2009-10 Frozen Four championship, earning an NCAA Division I title. The former right-winger was drafted in the second round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008, 60th overall. He spent three years with the Chicago Blackhawks, two with the Florida Panthers and Boston Bruins, and one with the New Jersey Devils. He ended his playing career with the Pittsburgh Penguins after playing on their AHL affiliate for multiple games. In his 334 games played in the big leagues, he scored 54 goals and had 55 assists for 109 points.

Jimmy Hayes was the older brother to current NHL player and Philadelphia Flyers player Kevin Hayes. Both of them played on the 2009-10 Boston College hockey team. Hayes was also a member of the “Missin Curfew” podcast, along with other former NHL players, including Shane O’Brien and Scottie Upshall.

Hayes is the most recent death in the hockey community over the past few days. Former Canadian WHL players Caleb Reimer, Ronin Sharma, and Parker Magnuson all tragically passed away on Saturday. These three played for the elite Delta Hockey Academy, and Reimer’s last season was spent with the Edmonton Oil Kings. In addition, New York Rangers legend Rod Gilbert also passed earlier this weekend.
