His puck possession numbers over his four-year NHL career show a 48.2 Corsi For and a -1.1 Relative Corsi. He has averaged 10:25 minutes of ice time and will be another fourth-liner on the Coyotes. His penalty minutes add up to 12 minutes over his NHL career. It seems the fourth line will have plenty of competition in Arizona. The team made a big trade to acquire Jay Beagle, Loui Eriksson, and Antoine Roussel from Vancouver plus already have others who can man the bottom line. Christian Fischer and Barrett Hayton have played fourth minutes, so we’ll see how it turns out.

The 6′-0″, 190 pound native of Hopkins, Minnesota who will turn 28 next month is another reasonable addition to the Coyotes roster. It seems that the team is in the midst of a rebuild and looking to fill spots in the roster at this point. Major trades have really changed the look of the Desert Dogs and going into training camp this will be a whole new team. You’ll need a program to identify about dozen new players coming into a Yotes game this next season.

What the Future Holds

General manager Bill Armstrong is looking for a certain type of player, and he certainly has done his homework. He is attracted to players who can be physical since the team has been pushed around in past seasons. While he has his share of younger players, he has accumulated many seasoned veterans as well. We’ll see where Boyd fits into the picture when training camp commences. Armstrong must have seen something in his game to sign him, even if it’s just a one-year commitment.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Arizona Coyotes announced that they have signed centre Travis Boyd to a one-year one-way $750,000 contract.
