Even with his talent, he has been scratched for most two playoff campaigns where his team lost the Stanley Cup. That happened when he was on the Golden Knights in 2018 and again this year on the Montreal Canadiens. Tatar is looking for an opportunity where he doesn’t have to worry about being scratched. The Kraken and Avalanche have shown interest.

The Kraken are looking to build out their top-six wingers. They are coming into shape with Jordan Eberle, Jaden Schwartz and Calle Jarnkrok, they need one more, and Tatar could be that guy. Tatar’s addition would add an even balance of right and left-handed shooters. Tatar would also have a solid spot on one of their top-six lines.

Colorado is looking for a cheaper replacement for Brandon Saad as the second-line left-winger. Tatar will have the option to play with Nazem Kadri and Andre Burakovsky on a cup-contending team. Alex Newhook would be the only guy to knock off Tatar from a top-six left-wing role.
