This contract carries him through the 2025-26 season. During the regular season, Kaprizov was at the top of the team in several regards. He led the Wild in goals and points and came second only to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/greenjo02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jordan Greenway<\/a> in assists. Overall, Kaprizov recorded 27 goals and 24 assists for a total of 51 points through 55 games. His possession numbers were 51.2 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 7.0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Minnesota\u2019s first-round series against the<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/vegas-golden-knights\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vegas Golden Knights<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Kaprizov potted two goals and one assist to help the Wild take the Golden Knights to seven games. He also won this season\u2019s Calder Memorial Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL\u2019s best rookie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaprizov was originally drafted by the Wild in the fifth round, 135th overall in the 2015 NHL draft.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>What This Means for the Future<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the Wild as a whole, the ultimate goal is consistent success. Their excellent performance last season came as somewhat of a surprise. After all, it was the first time since 2018 the team made it to the First Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. But the Wild proved through their series against Vegas that they are capable of competing with the league&#8217;s top contenders. And with head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/evasode01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dean Evason<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/06\/11\/2021-jack-adams-award-nominees-announced\/\" target=\"_self\">2021 Jack Adams Award nominee<\/a>, at the helm and skilled youth on the ice, the future looks bright for Minnesota.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kaprizov will be an important part of that future. His scoring ability is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/leagues\/NHL_2021_skaters.html#stats::goals\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">among the league\u2019s best<\/a>, he\u2019s a force on the power play, and at just 23 years old, he has a long, promising career ahead of him.
