The 21-year old winger will be hoping to put his last season in the rear view mirror and fulfill the expectations many had of him after the 2015-16 season.

Anthony Duclair Re-Signs with the Arizona Coyotes

Duclair, 21, had nothing short of a disappointing season in 2016-17. On the back of a 44-point season in which he scored 20 goals. The 2016-17 season was not nearly as kind to Duclair, who only played in 58 games. During his 58-game season, he had five goals and 10 assists. Definitely not the numbers the Arizona Coyotes were hoping for from Duclair.

While he had a poor season, Duclair still has plenty of promise and has time on his side. At only 21-years old, he is still a spring chicken in regards to the NHL. The Coyotes will be hoping he can return to the production he had during the 2015-16 season.

Anthony Duclair: 17-18 $1.2M #coyotes

— Renaud Lavoie (@renlavoietva) September 3, 2017

Despite the goals and assists making a case against Anthony Duclair, they are only the tip of the iceberg. The Relative Corsi-For for Duclair this season was a 1.50, good for fourth among the forwards in Arizona. The only forwards he trailed were Radim Vrbata (1.67), Shane Doan (2.12), and Jordan Martinook (2.24). Of the three ahead of him, the lowest point total they had was the 25 by Martinook. This points to last season being more a case of bad luck, rather than bad play, for Anthony Duclair.

When you compare his 6.6% shoot percentage to that of the unrealistically high 19% he had in the 2015-16 season, it would be a safe bet to say that neither number is likely a good representative of where he will land consistently. Somewhere in the middle, likely above 10% is a more realistic landing point for Duclair when paired with a good core of forwards. If that’s the case, Duclair could easily score 15-20 goals per season.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Young left wing Anthony Duclair has re-signed with the Coyotes on a one-year contract worth $1.2 million.
