The head coach for the Central Division champions, Rod Brind’Amour<\/a>, has been extended. The Carolina Hurricanes<\/a> are believed to have given him a 3 year, $5.4 million contract. This will take him through the 2023-24 season.<\/p>\n

Rod Brind’Amour Extended For Three Years<\/h2>\n

Since taking over bench boss duties in the 2018-19 season, Brind’Amour has worked wonders for the Hurricanes. He has yet to finish lower than fourth in a division and has made the playoffs all three years. Over those three years, the team is 120-64-20, with 260 total points. Brind’Amour brought new life to a mediocre Hurricanes team and has been a crucial reason for their recent success. Partially responsible for creating and maintaining a fun and relaxed team environment, Brind’Amour encouraged team bonding. With that, team chemistry naturally follows, which is on full display when the players are on the ice.<\/p>\n

Moving Forward<\/h3>\n

After clinching first place in the Central Division, the Hurricanes are looking at a first-round matchup of either the Dallas Stars<\/a> or Nashville Predators<\/a>. Nashville kicks off a two-game series with the Hurricanes tonight, and the Stars play back-to-back games against the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> starting tomorrow. Out of the two opponents, Chicago is a much weaker team, but Nashville is two points ahead in the standings. If Nashville wins tonight against the Hurricanes, they will clinch a spot in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The Hurricanes are a very dangerous team to see in the playoffs, and they should have an easy first-round matchup against either Dallas or Nashville. With such a talented team and a smart head coach behind the bench, this team is poised to make a deep run in the playoffs. Losing in the first round would be an incredible disappointment for a team that had so much success in the regular season.<\/p>\n
