Maple Leafs coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/keefesh01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sheldon Keefe<\/a> told the media this information after Wednesday&#8217;s practice.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sheldon Keefe said Nick Foligno is day-to-day. It&#8217;s not known what caused his injury, but he pulled up short of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/allenja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Allen<\/a>&#8216;s crease. He&#8217;s played in five games so far this season since being traded by the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/bluejackets\/\" target=\"_self\">Columbus Blue Jackets<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So far this season, Foligno has scored seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 47 games. The former Blue Jackets captain also has 30 penalty minutes this season. His possession numbers are 47.9 percent Corsi and a relative Corsi of 0.9.<\/p>\n<p>Over his 14-year NHL career, Foligno has played for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/senators\/\" target=\"_self\">Ottawa Senators<\/a>, Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs. He has 203 goals and 283 assists for 486 career points in 955 career games. Ottawa drafted him in the first round, 28th overall of the 2006 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>His father, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/foligmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Foligno<\/a>, played for Toronto and his brother, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/foligma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Foligno<\/a>, plays for the Minnesota Wild.<\/p>\n<h2>What This Means for the Future<\/h2>\n<p>The injury interupts the 33-year-old winger&#8217;s adjustment to his new team. However, Keefe said that the veteran should be able to mesh well with his new club. Foligno currently has yet to score with his new team. However, he does have four assists with the Maple Leafs since the deal.<\/p>\n<p>In other Leafs news, goalie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/anderfr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frederik Andersen<\/a> will go on a rehab assignment with the AHL Toronto Marlies. Toronto has loaned the veteran goalie to their minor league team in order to get some game time.
