Welcome back to\u00a0<\/span>NHL Predictions<\/span><\/a>, May 5th edition! Each day, the Last Word On Hockey team will break down every game and give our NHL predictions for each game. Today\u2019s NHL Predictions for May 5th features the Vegas Golden Knights vs Minnesota Wild. This is the second of three of our Cinco de Mayo predictions. NHL Predictions<\/h2>\n

Vegas Golden Knights vs Minnesota Wild<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Golden Knights 5-2 Wild<\/h4>\n

The Wild are coming off an impressive rally against the Golden Knights after coming back for a 6-5 win. Jonas Brodin<\/a> scored with just over a minute left in regulation to help Minnesota win. Nick Bonino<\/a> scored twice and Kirill Kaprizov<\/a> got his 24th goal of the season<\/a>. The Wild have won the last five meetings against the Golden Knights after dropping the first two meetings of the season.<\/p>\n

Vegas is in a fight with the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in the Honda West Division for the top seed. Max Pacioretty<\/a> is tops in goals with 27 and Mark Stone<\/a> leads the team in assists. Marc-Andre Fleury<\/a> will likely get the start after Robin Lehner<\/a> let in six last game. It’s the last of the eight meetings of the season between the two teams.<\/p>\n

Minnesota has been solid at home, but Vegas needs the win to keep pace in the West.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Golden Knights win 4-2.<\/p>\n

Nashville Predators vs Columbus Blue Jackets<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Predators 6-1 Blue Jackets<\/h4>\n

The Predators are inching closer to nailing down the final playoff spot in the Discover Central Division. Nashville held off a furious rally from Columbus to win 4-3 in overtime. Roman Josi<\/a> scored his second goal of the game to withstand an Emil Bemstrom<\/a> natural hat trick to keep the heat on the Dallas Stars<\/a>. Juuse Saros<\/a> will likely get the nod, as he’s carried Nashville in this run.<\/p>\n

Oliver Bjorkstrand<\/a> leads Columbus in goals (15) and assists (24) and Elvis Merz\u013cikins will likely get the start. The Blue Jackets look to be playing out the string, but would love to hamper the Predators playoff plans. Nashville will clinch the spot if they win two of its next three.<\/p>\n

The Predators will get the best of the Blue Jackets, but the Tennessee boys are on a mission.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Predators win 3-1.<\/em><\/p>\n

Anaheim Ducks vs St. Louis Blues<\/h3>\n

Head-to-Head: Ducks 2-5 Blues<\/h4>\n

St. Louis is coming off a key 3-1 win over Anaheim in their quest for the final West playoff spot. The Blues used goals by Robert Bortuzzo<\/a> and Ryan O’Reilly<\/a> to best the Ducks. O’Reilly leads the team in goals with 23 and David Perron<\/a> is the top assist man in 35. St. Louis has been playing better as of late with wins against Minnesota.<\/p>\n

Anaheim was finally eliminated from the playoffs earlier in the week. The Ducks have the league’s worst power play at just over nine percent. Players like Trevor Zegras<\/a> and other youngsters will get lots of playing time for Ducks.<\/p>\n

St. Louis is on a mission to seal up the last playoff spot over an Anaheim time playing out the string.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Blues win 4-1.<\/em><\/p>\n
