He potted 15 goals and 22 assists for 37 points in 67 games.

Versteeg was very effective on the powerplay putting up 16 points in the regular season and three of his four points in the playoffs came on the man advantage. Versteeg did have a disappointing 47.8% Corsi-for in Calgary, after sporting a combined 57.6% with the Hurricanes and Kings the year prior.

The Lethbridge, Alberta native is one of those players who always find themselves on a contending team. He has battled in seven of the previous eight playoffs, in which the journeyman dawned five different jerseys. Versteeg has the hoisted the Stanley Cup twice with the Blackhawks in 2010 and 2015.

The forward has bounced around in his seven-year career, especially as of late. He’s spent a year or less with five teams and before signing in Calgary, Versteeg agreed to terms with Bern SC in Switzerland’s National League a month before NHL free agency took place.

In 619 career games, Versteeg has netted 146 goals, 204 assists for 350 points. He has posted more than 50 points only twice in his career, one of which came in his rookie season when he placed third in the Calder Trophy race.

Despite not being someone that could light up the NHL, Versteeg is an experienced veteran that brings scoring ability to the bottom six forward lines. Versteeg is a very solid re-signing for the Calgary Flames.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The Calgary Flames have re-signed winger Kris Versteeg to a one-year, $1.75 million contract.
