In that span, he netted 16 goals and 35 assists for 51 points in 151 games. Fast also recorded seven points in 19 postseason contests the past two years.

Fast recently underwent surgery to his left hip to repair a labral injury. He is likely out until October, which would rule him out for training camp and the first month of the regular season.

The surgery comes after an injury-shortened season. A separated shoulder forced Fast to miss 11 games this year before rejoining the Rangers lineup in mid-March. He finished the year with 21 points in 68 games.

Fast displays top end speed one needs to make an impact in the NHL on a consistent basis, but he does play with an edge as well. He has accumulated over 100 hits in two of the previous three seasons. He was one hit shy of the triple digit mark this season. The Swede has done this while averaging just over 13:30 minutes per game, which should give the team optimism moving forward.

So far, the winger has experienced a good career considering where he was drafted. Fast has dressed for 216 games putting up 22 goals and 43 assists for 65 points in his three-year career. In addition to this, he holds plus/minus of 44.

A regular fixture in the lineup since 2014-15, Fast often played alongside Oscar Lindberg on the fourth line this season. When healthy in 2017-18, expect Fast to return to his depth role as a fourth liner.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

The New York Rangers have re-signed forward Jesper Fast to a three year contract with an AAV of $1.85 million per season. .
