After two drubbings of the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/flyers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in a week, the Rangers offence has looked as potent as ever. Defenceman\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/foxad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Adam Fox<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has emerged as a potential Norris Trophy candidate.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/panarar01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Artemi Panarin<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been inching back to his MVP calibre form of last season. Additionally,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kakkoka01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kaapo Kakko<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, who put up one of the worst seasons by a player in the analytics era, has bounced back in a big way. The Finnish forward has been elite on the defensive side of the ice and could easily be a Selke candidate if he keeps this kind of play up. Finally,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zibanmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mika Zibanejad<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been on a tear lately. Despite a rough start to the season, Zibanejad has been piling up points thanks to two hat-tricks against the Flyers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As for the Capitals,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/ovechal01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Alex Ovechkin<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has also started to put up the goals despite a somewhat slow start. Ovechkin&#8217;s partner in crime,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/backsni02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nicklas Backstrom<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, has been a consistent offensive force for the Capitals throughout Ovechkin&#8217;s rough patch. Backstrom is the Capitals leading point scorer with 35, 13 of which are goals. Of course, we can&#8217;t ignore both\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/carlsjo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">John Carlson<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vranaja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jakub Vrana<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8216;s production, as they are third and fourth respectively on the Capitals in terms of point-scoring. Carlson is another defenceman that has quietly put up good numbers and has a shot at another Norris trophy. While the Caps are the better team by a long shot, the Rangers have given them a lot of grief this season. However, with Ovechkin&#8217;s goal totals starting to return to normal, the Rangers need to be extra wary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction: Capitals win 4-2\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Columbus Blue Jackets vs Detroit Red Wings<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Blue Jackets 2 \u2013 2 Red Wings<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Columbus Blue Jackets<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Detroit Red Wings<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are two teams near the bottom of the Central Division and the league standings. The two teams battled it out on Saturday, and Detroit utterly dominated every aspect of the game. However, despite the one-game sample, the season series has been relatively even. Blue Jackets forward\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bjorkol01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Oliver Bjorkstrand<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has continued his fantastic play. He leads the Jackets in goals, assists, and points.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/a\/atkinca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cam Atkinson<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is tied with him for first in goals, and he is one assist ahead of\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rosloja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jack Roslovic<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesse01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Seth Jones<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0for first. However, despite the small disparity in those two individual statistics, he leads in points by five with 28.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lainepa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Patrik Laine<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is still concerningly silent and has been for a while. He hasn&#8217;t scored a goal since March 11th in a game against the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/panthers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Florida Panthers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Over the seven games since that appearance, Laine has only two assists.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Red Wings beat Columbus coming off of a rough two-game set against the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/predators\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nashville Predators<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/larkidy01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Dylan Larkin<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0tallied two assists in the win on Saturday against the Jackets, which puts him second behind\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hronefi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Filip Hronek<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in points with 18. Goaltender\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pickaca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Calvin Pickard<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0saved 21 of 22 shots in the 3-1 win.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/f\/fabbrro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Robby Fabbri<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0scored a goal and put himself third in points among the Red Wings with 17, with 10 of those 17 points are goals. The Red Wings played 12 forwards and six defencemen in their win against the Jackets after dressing 11 forwards and seven defensemen in the previous eight games. It will be intriguing to see what head coach Jeremy Blashill is planning on doing with his roster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction: Blue Jackets win 3-2<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anaheim Ducks vs St. Louis Blues<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Ducks 1 \u2013 4 Blues<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Anaheim Ducks<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">St. Louis Blues<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are another matchup in this set of games where the season series is rather lopsided. The Blues have been somewhat underwhelming this season, which may be due to poor performances from\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/11\/jordan-binnington-signs-long-term\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">newly-inked<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0goaltender\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/binnijo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jordan Binnington<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/perroda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">David Perron<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been no slouch this season, leading the Blues in goals, assists, and points, just like Bjorkstrand. One of the most elite passers in the game,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/oreilry01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ryan O&#8217;Reilly<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, has also been a top contributor to the Blues so far, notching 32 points with 11 goals and 21 assists. The Blues previously lost to the Ducks, mainly due to a remarkable comeback game from\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=gibsojo02,gibsojo01&amp;search=John+Gibson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">John Gibson<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, who got activated off of injured reserve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/comtoma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Max Comtois<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rakelri01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rickard Rakell<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are still the main threats on offence for the Ducks. Rookie\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zegratr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Trevor Zegras<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been very solid despite not putting up astounding point totals.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drysdja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jamie Drysdale<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0looked excellent before exiting the game on Friday after an awkward hit along the boards.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/henriad01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Adam Henrique<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is atop some trade boards and the same with Rakell. However, Henrique&#8217;s contract at 5.825 million AAV for the next three years could hinder any possibility of trading him at the deadline. Another fantastic Gibson start could help lead the Ducks to a win.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction: Blues win 2-1<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">New Jersey Devils vs Boston Bruins<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Devils 3 &#8211; 1 Bruins<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">New Jersey Devils<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Boston Bruins<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are two teams on the opposite ends of the standings, but most would expect the latter to be winning the season series. The Devils are expecting to be sellers at this upcoming trade deadline.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/palmiky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kyle Palmieri<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0headlines their &#8220;up for sale&#8221; pool of players, but he hasn&#8217;t been one of their top performers this season.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/z\/zachapa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pavel Zacha<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0leads the team with 19 points, followed by rookie defenceman\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/smithty01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ty Smith<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and sophomore forward\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=hugheja03,hugheja02&amp;search=Jack+Hughes&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Jack Hughes<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Smith is a player this season as <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/02\/11\/new-jersey-devils-ty-smith-is-a-player-to-watch\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">someone to watch<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. With that in mind, it&#8217;s good to see he is continuing his overall solid play. Hughes, like Kakko, had a historically bad season in his rookie year. However, he is showing strong signs of improvement both offensively and defensively. Hughes may not be a Selke candidate, but his skating has looked excellent per usual. His overall offensive instincts look sharp as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Bruins are coming off a win against the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/sabres\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buffalo Sabres<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, which gave the Sabres 17 total games in their winless streak.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/marchbr03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Brad Marchand<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0was previously put on the Covid-19 protocol list.
