This is the late slate of NHL Predictions for March 24th, so be sure to check out the early game predictions as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">NHL Predictions: Winnipeg Jets vs Vancouver Canucks<\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buffalo Sabres vs Pittsburgh Penguins<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Sabres 0 \u2013 2 Penguins<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Buffalo Sabres<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0are playing their first game of a back-to-back series. The Sabres are a wreck in every way. They recently\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/17\/sabres-fire-ralph-krueger\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">fired head coach Ralph Krueger<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0to help slow the bleeding, but the wound is still large.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/eicheja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jack Eichel<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/09\/buffalo-sabres-jack-eichel-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">out for an extended period<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0along with every goaltender the Sabres have on their roster outside\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=johanjo03,johanjo02&amp;search=Jonas+Johansson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jonas Johansson<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, who was\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/19\/buffalo-sabres-trade-jonas-johansson-avalanche\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">traded to the Colorado Avalanche<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/skinnje01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Skinner<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is still underperforming,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dahlira01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rasmus Dahlin<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is still of concern, and the team as a whole is rocking with a 14-game losing streak.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/reinhsa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sam Reinhart<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/o\/olofsvi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victor Olofsson<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0have been some lone bright spots on the Sabres, even though their production hasn&#8217;t been anything to rave about either.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Penguins, on the other hand, are playing very well. Despite an overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils on Sunday, they&#8217;re 7-2-1 in their last ten games, with\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/crosbsi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sidney Crosby<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0leading the way per usual. The Penguins captain has had a fantastic year, which is a real treat for hockey fans of all respects. Crosby and his partner in crime,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/guentja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jake Guentzel<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, both have totalled 30 or more points, the only two on the roster to reach that plateau thus far.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jarrytr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tristan Jarry<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has had a resurgence despite a languid start and has been an enormous help in the strong record recently.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction: Penguins win 5-2<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Winnipeg Jets vs Vancouver Canucks<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Jets 4 &#8211; 2 Canucks<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Our featured matchup of the night, the\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Winnipeg Jets<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Vancouver Canucks<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0have met a fair amount of times this season.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/helleco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Connor Hellebuyck<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been his usual self, despite not being exactly the level he was at last season. He is currently 14th in the league in goals saved above expected (GSAx) per\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/evolving-hockey.com\/?\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Evolving-Hockey<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Meanwhile,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/scheima01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Scheifele<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/connoky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyle Connor<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/w\/wheelbl01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blake Wheeler<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0have been continuously producing upfront for this Jets team, which has propelled them to third in the North Division, down two points with two games in hand second-place team, the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/oilers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Edmonton Oilers<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. The Jets are a team to watch moving forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As for the Canucks,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/petteel01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elias Pettersson<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is still out. However, with JT Miller back and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/demkoth01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Thatcher Demko<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0putting up a Vezina trophy level campaign over a short span, the Canucks are within playoff reach. They&#8217;re two points out of a spot in the North Division. However, the next place team, the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Montreal Canadiens<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, has five games in hand on the young team. Rookie\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hoglani01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nils Hoglander<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is putting up a good rookie year. He is considered by most to be a top-five candidate for the Calder trophy. Look for this match to be a battle of goaltenders with very little defence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Prediction: Canucks win 5-4<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Los Angeles Kings vs San Jose Sharks<\/span><\/h3>\n<h4><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Head-to-Head: Kings 1 \u2013 2 Sharks<\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Los Angeles Kings<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">San Jose Sharks<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0have been in an exciting feud as of their last match. Depth forward and noted agitator\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gabriku01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kurtis Gabriel<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0got into a bit of an altercation with\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/macdeku01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kurtis MacDermid<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. MacDermid went over the center ice line, and Gabriel cross-checked him in the back. This led to a fight between two later in the game, and they did not disappoint throwing haymakers left and right. The above-average goaltending from\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/peterca01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Calvin Petersen<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has helped the Kings out. They&#8217;re also getting contributions from\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kopitan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anze Kopitar<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, their consistent and robust two-way center.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/browndu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dustin Brown<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has also chipped in with 14 goals, with the next closest being\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kempead01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Adrian Kempe<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at 11. They&#8217;re currently sixth in the West standings, despite being in a playoff spot only a couple of weeks ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The Sharks were never close to a playoff spot. They&#8217;ve been a reasonably consistent team on the losing end of the spectrum. Captain\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/coutulo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Logan Couture<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has been producing despite the lacklustre performance from a lot of his teammates. He has 14 goals, which leads the entire Sharks team.\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/kaneev01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Evander Kane<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has also been a top contributor, leading the Sharks in assists and points. The tandem of\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jonesma02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Martin Jones<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/dubnyde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devan Dubnyk<\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0has not lived up to the expectations of Sharks management, posting .897 and .899 save percentages, respectively.
