The Detroit Red Wings<\/a> announced that forward Bobby Ryan<\/a> will remain day-to-day with an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n

Bobby Ryan Day-to-Day with Injury<\/h2>\n

On Monday, it was announced that Bobby Ryan was uncertain for Tuesday’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.<\/a> MLive reporter Ansar Khan confirmed that Ryan will sit out the next game or two to recover from an upper-body injury he received on Sunday. It isn’t clear where or how he sustained the injury, but the day-to-day designation suggests that Ryan will need at least a game or two to get back on his feet.<\/p>\n

So far this season, Ryan has scored six goals and seven assists for 13 points to go along with 25 minutes in penalties.<\/p>\n

Over his 14-year NHL career, Ryan has played for the Anaheim Ducks, Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings. He has 260 goals and 308 assists for 568 career points in 861 career games. He was originally drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 1st round, 2nd overall in the 2006 NHL draft.<\/p>\n

What This Means for the Future<\/h3>\n

Losing Ryan will be a devastating blow for the Red Wings — but not one without a silver lining. Newcomer Evgeny Svechnikov<\/a> now has a chance to secure a full-time spot on the roster. Having said that, the Red Wings hope to get Ryan back as soon as possible. With the trade deadline slowly approaching, Detroit will want to showcase Ryan as much as they can in order to facilitate a potential trade option. Ryan’s veteran presence and super scoring ability makes him an excellent depth threat on any roster. Whether he recovers quickly or not, Ryan will be sorely missed. Head coach Jeff Blashill will need to juggle the Red Wings’ lines in order to spread out their scoring threats without him.<\/p>\n
