He will miss today&#8217;s game vs the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/10\/last-word-on-hockey-show-rangers-devils-flames-jack-eichel\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Rangers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jake has struggled this season with just two goals and six points in 18 games. He found himself in Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/cassibr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bruce Cassidy<\/a>&#8216;s doghouse and was a healthy scratch two games ago.\u00a0 A quick bounce back with a goal in Thursday&#8217;s game against the Rangers was a feel-good moment.<\/p>\n<p>A new two-year $7.35 million contract signed in the offseason has big things expected of DeBrusk this season. The expectations are for him to play alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/k\/krejcda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">David Krejci<\/a> on the left-wing and improve off his previous seasons. Just 24 years old, he has scored 62 goals with the Bruins over the previous three seasons. This season he has most often been relegated to the third line as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/ritchni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nick Ritchie<\/a> has taken over the second-line left wing spot for Boston.<\/p>\n<h3>Frustration is Boiling Over<\/h3>\n<p>DeBrusk&#8217;s struggles are getting media attention, not only in Boston but around the NHL. He has risen up on &#8220;trade bait&#8221; lists across the hockey world.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview Friday, Jake DeBrusk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MurphysLaw74\/status\/1370206633511555074?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">commented<\/a>, &#8220;Feels like everyone thinks I\u2019m done around here. I&#8217;m an easy target and it&#8217;s warranted but of course, I take it personally. It stinks!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This latest setback will only add to his frustration, coming off his best game of the season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/bjorkan01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anders Bjork<\/a> is expected to replace DeBrusk in the lineup in the short term.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mckeggr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Greg McKegg<\/a> was also called up from Providence earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>Boston sits fourth in the East Division and can ill afford a setback.\u00a0 Defencemen Jeremey Lauzon, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/milleke03.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevan Miller<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/carlobr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandon Carlo<\/a> are all injured. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/rasktu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tuukka Rask<\/a> has also been sidelined the last two games, as the Bruins injury report lengthens.<\/p>\n<p>Boston will travel to play two games vs the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/2021\/03\/13\/nhl-predictions-march-13th-feat-montreal-canadiens-vs-calgary-flames\/\" target=\"_self\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> after this afternoon&#8217;s tilt with New York.
