It&#8217;s his fourth career hat trick and second of the season for the Blueshirts pivot. The five-goal game is the first since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/pavelma02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mark Pavelich<\/a> did so on Feb. 23, 1983.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uvhB_jBuvr4\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Zibanejad caps off the night with a a breakaway goal in overtime on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/samsoil01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ilya Samsonov<\/a>. The Swede takes the feed from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/p\/panarar01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Artemi Panarin<\/a> and scores off the backhand for the game-clinching goal.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1969:<\/strong> Chicago Blackhawks forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/hullbo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bobby Hull<\/a> becomes the first four-time 50-goal scorer in league history. Hull nets a pair of goals in a 4-4 tie with the Rangers at Chicago Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Boston Bruins star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/e\/esposph01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phil Esposito<\/a> sets the single-season assist mark with a pair of helpers in a 2-2 tie with the Detroit Red Wings.
