We\u2019ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for February 19th, featuring Patrick Roy<\/a>.

Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n

Patrick Roy Nets Two Milestones<\/h3>\n

1996:<\/strong> The Colorado Avalanche goalie becomes the second-youngest goalie to get 300 career victories. Roy gets the mark in a 7-5 home win over the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> thanks to a Peter Forsberg<\/a> hat trick.<\/p>\n

2001:<\/strong> He then becomes the fourth goalie to get 30 wins in six straight seasons. Forsberg again has a big night with four points (two goals, two assists) as the Avs beat the Pittsburgh Penguins,<\/a> 5-1 on the road.<\/p>\n

Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n

1952:<\/strong> Bernie Geoffrion<\/a> gets five goals and Doug Harvey<\/a> hands out five assists in the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> 10-2 rout of the New York Rangers<\/a>. It’s the only five-goal game between 1947 and 1961.<\/p>\n

1977:\u00a0<\/strong> Rod Gilbert<\/a> gets a goal and an assist to get to 1,000 points in the Rangers’ 5-2 defeat to the New York Islanders.<\/a> Gilbert becomes the 11th player to reach 1,000 career points.<\/p>\n

1979:<\/strong> Mike Bossy<\/a> gets his 100th career goal in the Islanders 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings<\/a>. Bossy reaches the mark faster than anyone in his 129th game, which is five faster than Maurice Richard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

1980:<\/strong> Wayne Gretzky<\/a> and Gordie Howe<\/a> play for the final time against each other, but neither scores in Edmonton’s 6-2 win over the Hartford Whalers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bengt-Ake Gustafsson<\/a><\/span> scores with 7:37 left in regulation as the Washington Capitals<\/a> beat Montreal for the first time in 35 games. The Caps hadn’t beaten the Habs since entering the league in 1974.<\/p>\n

2007:<\/strong> Pittsburgh’s Ryan Malone<\/a> becomes the first player to get a hat trick by scoring in the first minute of each period. However, the Penguins fall to the Islanders, 6-5, on the road.<\/p>\n

2017:<\/strong> Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> forward Patrick Kane<\/a> becomes the first American-born player to get 20 goals or more in his first 10 seasons. Kane gets the milestone in his hometown in a 5-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.<\/a><\/p>\n

2019:<\/strong> The St. Louis Blues<\/a> get their 11th straight win in a 3-2 OT-victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>. Ryan O’Reilly<\/a> scores 34 seconds into the extra session and Jordan Binnington<\/a> becomes the sixth goalie in NHL history to win at least 13 of his first 15 NHL starts.<\/p>\n
