Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman<\/a><\/strong> is out day-to-day with an injury according to TSN’s Kristen Shilton. She reports that he was banged up during yesterday’s game against the Ottawa Senators<\/a>. He didn’t play against Ottawa tonight.<\/p>\n

Zach Hyman is out (day to day after getting banged up last night), Nic Petan<\/a> in for him.<\/p>\n

Zach Hyman Injured<\/h3>\n

In 17 games played this season, Hyman has four goals, six assists for 10 points for seventh on the team in scoring. He is averaging a career-high 19:44 minutes per game and leads the forwards with averaging 2:26 of shorthanded ice-time. Hyman also has a 46.8 Corsi For percentage at even-strength.<\/p>\n

Hyman was drafted by the Florida Panthers 123rd overall in 2010 but he never played for the Panthers. In June of 2015, he was traded for Toronto with Greg McKegg<\/a><\/strong> going the other way. He played his first game during the 2015-16 season and has played with them ever since. In 319 games, Hyman has scored 75 goals, 87 assists for 162 points. He’s in his final year of a four-year deal that pays him $2.25 million annually.<\/p>\n

Outside of hockey, Hyman is a children’s author. He wrote Hockey Hero,<\/em>\u00a0The<\/em> Bambino and Me,<\/em> and\u00a0The Magician’s Secret.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

What This Means For the Future<\/h3>\n

This is not a big worry for the Maple Leafs because it doesn’t appear Hyman will be out for long. Maybe just one game. He is an important player for them. Hyman is arguably their hardest working player and plays a lot on the penalty-kill. Thankfully the injury isn’t serious because losing him for a lengthy period of time will not be great.<\/p>\n

Hyman won’t play against Ottawa. Ottawa is the worst team in the North Division but Toronto shouldn’t take them lightly. The season series is split between the two. If they work just as hard as the Senators, their skill should propel them to a win.<\/p>\n
