The 29-year-old centre has signed a contract with a team in the Swedish Elite League’s Skellefteå.

Par Lindholm Signs in Sweden

The forward was in his third season in the NHL, having played with the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Winnipeg Jets before being a member of the Bruins organization. In just over 100 NHL games, Lindholm scored four goals and 15 assists for 19 career points in the NHL. In 40 games last season he put up three goals and assists for six points on the year. Lindholm also appeared in the Eastern Conference bubble with the Bruins, playing six games with no points to show.

Prior to his stint in North America, Lindholm spent the majority of his playing career playing in his native country for various teams in the Swedish professional system. He spent the majority of his time playing with the same club he signed for, playing six seasons with them. In his 196 games with the club, he has scored 53 goals and 66 assists for 119 points for the club.

What This Means for the Bruins

The Bruins waived the forward on Sunday and had agreed to terminate his contract. This open spot on the taxi squad doesn’t really mean too much, but it gives another player a chance to fill in on the main roster if it’s required. There are two options the team might want to go with. First could be their 2015 first-round pick, Zachary Senyshyn. Senyshyn is currently playing for the Providence Bruins in the AHL and might benefit from getting practice reps with the NHL squad. Another option the team could go down is doing the same with a defenceman. They currently have no blueliners on their taxi squad and might benefit from having another option in a player like Urho Vaakanainen to use in relief.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

Recently released Boston Bruins forward Par Lindholm is packing up his skates and heading back home to Sweden.
