Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for February 14th, featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=baileac01,bailega01&amp;search=Ace+Bailey&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ace Bailey<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Happy Valentine&#8217;s Day to those that celebrate.<\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Leafs Retire No. 6 of Ace Bailey<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1934:<\/strong> A standing-room only crowd of 14,074 jams Maple Leaf Gardens to see the Toronto Maple Leafs retire Bailey&#8217;s sweater. The Leafs defeat the NHL All-Stars, 7-3 in a benefit for Bailey, who had to retire recently after fracturing his skull.<\/p>\n<p>The highlight of the night comes before the opening face-off when Shore approaches Bailey, who extends his hand. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jacksbu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Busher Jackson<\/a> scores twice as the game raises $21,000.<\/p>\n<p>[pickup_prop id=&#8221;3650&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1923:<\/strong> The Toronto St. Pats and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/senators\/\" target=\"_self\">Ottawa Senators<\/a> game is the first broadcast on radio. Canadian station CFCA broadcasts the third period of the game at the Arena Gardens in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1954:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/redwings\/\" target=\"_self\">Detroit Red Wings<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/howego01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gordie Howe<\/a> gets his 500th points in a 5-0 win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/blackhawks\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago Blackhawks<\/a>. Hill ties the record for most points in a player&#8217;s first NHL game.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1986:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/oilers\/\" target=\"_self\">Edmonton Oilers<\/a> centre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/g\/gretzwa01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wayne Gretzky<\/a> gets his third and final seven-assist night of his career.
