We\u2019ll remember the moments that shaped the sport of hockey that happened on this day. Here\u2019s our look at this date in hockey history for February 12th featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/c\/cowlebi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bill Cowley<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Today in Hockey History<\/h2>\n<h3>Bill Cowley Becomes All-Time Leading Scorer<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1947:<\/strong> The Boston Bruins centre gets a goal to become the league&#8217;s all-time leading scorer in a 10-1 rout of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/rangers\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Rangers<\/a>. Cowley notches his 529th career point to pass the recently retired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/h\/howesy01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Syd Howe<\/a> for first place.<\/p>\n<p>The Bristol, Quebec native retires at the end of the season with 548 career points. He enters the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1968 and was the only player elected in the class that year.<\/p>\n<h3>Other Notable Events<\/h3>\n<p><strong>1935:<\/strong> Boston defenceman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/shoreed01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eddie Shore<\/a> gets a goal and three assists in a 6-5 overtime win over the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/leafs\/\" target=\"_self\">Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a>. Shore gets two of those assists in 12 seconds in the non sudden-death overtime period.<\/p>\n<p><b>1975: <\/b>The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canadiens\/\" target=\"_self\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> extend their NHL-record road undefeated streak to 17 games (10-0, seven ties) in a 2-2 tie with Toronto. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/d\/drydeke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ken Dryden<\/a> makes 43 saves and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/r\/robinla01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Larry Robinson<\/a> gets two points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1976:<\/strong> The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/canucks\/\" target=\"_self\">Vancouver Canucks<\/a> finally beat Montreal for the first time since entering the league in 1970. <span id=\"token-7AE68A1F08FB9EBACB395\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/s\/sedlbro01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ron Sedlbauer<\/a><\/span> and <span id=\"token-6CC8A91E8C1E0AE72B38B\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/v\/vervede01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dennis Ververgaert<\/a><\/span> <span id=\"token-2DC80A958D53599DDE596\" class=\"token token-hyperLink\">each score twice in a 6-4 win to end an 0-25-5 drought.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>1985:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/hockey\/category\/penguins\/\" target=\"_self\">Pittsburgh Penguins<\/a> rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/lemiema01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mario Lemieux<\/a> is the first rookie to win the All-Star Game MVP award.
