Winger Adam Cracknell Claimed by the New York Rangers
Drafted by the Calgary Flames in 2004, the forward spent most of his early career playing for their affiliate team the Quad City Flames. In 2009, the St. Louis Blues signed him as an unrestricted free agent. He scored his first NHL career goal against the Detroit Red Wings on March 12, 2011. During his time with the Blues, Cracknell had 16 points, scoring six goals an contributing 10 assists. Cracknell remained with the Blues until the end of the 2013-2014 season.
On July 1, 2014, Cracknell signed a one-year contract as a free agent with defending Stanley Cup champions the Los Angeles Kings. He failed to impress during training camp, and the Kings placed him on waivers. The journeyman forward was then picked up by the Columbus Blue Jackets. Cracknell played a total of 17 games with the Blue Jackets before being sent down to their AHL team, the Springfield Falcons. The Blues reacquired the forward on February 26, 2015. They sent him down to their AHL affiliate team, the Chicago Wolves.
Six months after being with the Blues, Cracknell would sign as a free agent to a one-year, two-way contract with the Vancouver Canucks. After playing 44 games with the Canucks, he was put on waivers before being picked up by the Edmonton Oilers. He played eight games with the team. Cracknell made yet another move, just months after being acquired by the Oilers, joining the Dallas Stars.
To date, Cracknell has played 204 games throughout his nine seasons in the NHL, scoring a total of 43 points. In the 2016-2017 season with the Stars, he played in 69 games, scored 10 goals and contributed six helpers. CBS Sports suggests he may play on the Ranger’s fourth line.
