This week in Montreal Canadiens news, prospect Martin Reway is sidelined with an illness which has implications on training camp. A new addition to the Habs scouting team was announced today and his name is Sean Burke. Also Laval has decided on their team name, which was announced today.

Martin Reway Hospitalized
On Thursday, Canadiens General Manager Marc Bergevin announced that prospect Martin Reway will miss one month due to a virus. The 2013 fourth-round selection will miss training camp due to his hospitalization. He is currently being treated in Slovakia, where his team of doctors and Habs head physician Dr. David Mulder are working closely on the matter.
Expected to push for a spot on the team after signing a three-year entry level contract this off-season, Reway’s chances have taken a significant detour with this illness. Doctors are currently trying to figure out the extent of the virus.

Reway, 21, has spent the last two seasons playing in Europe, playing for both Sparta Praha of the Czech League and Swiss club Fribourg-Gotteron. Prior to his move overseas, Reway was a dominating force in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, as a member of the Gatineau Olympiques.
He also played a huge role in Slovakia‘s 2015 World Junior Championship bronze medal finish, scoring nine points in seven games. The team had finished no higher than 8th prior to 2015.
Sean Burke Hired as Pro Scout
The Canadiens also announced the hiring of a new member to their scouting staff, appointing former goaltender Sean Burke as the newest Pro Scout to the club.

Burke, 49, had spent six seasons with the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes, serving as a goaltending coach, director of player development and assistant general manager. He is expected to handle the scouting of the western region, according to the Canadiens press release.
The Windsor native debuted in the National Hockey League in 1988, drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. Burke would play in 820 career games, between nine different teams, in 19 seasons. Posting a 324-341-101-9 record, Burke was also a three-time all-star (1989, 2001, 2002).
Le Rocket de Laval
Finally, the Canadiens AHL Affiliate team, which is headed to Laval for the 2017-18 season, has decided on their team name. In a fan vote that consisted of 850 possibilities, Le Rocket received 51% of the final votes, beating out Rapides (25 per cent) and Patriotes (24 per cent). The official tally was over 54,000 votes.

The focus now shifts to the team’s color scheme and logo. The reveal is expected sometime in the next few months.
Head Coach Sylvain Lefebvre and his team will close out their run in St. John‘s next season before moving over to Laval. The team currently known as the IceCaps were situated in Newfoundland for the last five seasons. Their best season came in 2013-14 when they lost in the AHL Finals. The team has missed the playoffs in the last two seasons.
Officially, the team’s name is Le Club Hockey Rocket de Laval.
