Brooks Koepka has explained how he went through two hours of panic after mistakenly believing he had been withdrawn from the Genesis Scottish Open.<\/p>\n

The confusion started last weekend when Koepka’s name suddenly disappeared from the tournament field, leading to reports on social media that he would not play in the $9 million Rolex Series event at The Renaissance Club.<\/p>\n

The five-time major champion had planned to make his first appearance at the Genesis Scottish Open since 2015, so the unexpected news came as a complete surprise.<\/p>\n

Koepka Feared He Was Out of the Tournament<\/h3>\n

After receiving several text messages about the reported withdrawal, Koepka checked the PGA TOUR app himself. When he could not find his name on the entry list, he immediately tried to contact his manager, Blake Smith. However, Smith was in Las Vegas, where it was only 7 a.m., making it difficult to get an immediate answer.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, there was a bit of a panic, I guess, on Sunday,\u201d Koepka said<\/a>. \u201cI called my agent, Blake Smith, in a bit of a panic. Because I got a few text messages that I had withdrawn, and then I went on the PGA TOUR app. I didn’t see my name either, and I was in a little bit of a panic\u2026There were probably two hours of complete panic about what had gone on. I couldn’t figure it out. So, I’m here.\u201d<\/p>\n

A few hours later, tournament officials cleared up the confusion. They confirmed that Koepka had received a sponsor’s invitation and remained in the field.<\/p>\n

Koepka Returns to the Scottish Open<\/h3>\n

The confirmation allowed Koepka to focus on his preparations instead of worrying about his place in the tournament. The 36-year-old has not competed since missing the cut at last month’s U.S. Open. Before that, he withdrew after the third round of the RBC Canadian Open because of a hand injury.<\/p>\n

Despite those setbacks, Koepka has recorded six top-20 finishes this season. This week’s event also marks his first appearance in Scotland’s national open since 2015 and his first time playing at The Renaissance Club.<\/p>\n

Koepka left LIV Golf in December 2025 even though he still had several months left on his contract. He returned to the PGA Tour through a newly introduced returning member program. The former World No. 1 later explained that personal issues played a major part in his decision to leave the breakaway league.<\/p>\n

With the confusion resolved, Koepka will now focus on his return to the Genesis Scottish Open for the first time since 2015.<\/p>\n
