Right before the Majors Tournament, Tiger Woods got himself into trouble.\u00a0 He was involved in a DUI crash that resulted in his car rolling over.\u00a0 The golf world was in shock, but it also pointed out that there was a history.\u00a0 At the time, Woods’ fellow golfers expressed concern<\/a> for the former world No. 1.\u00a0 Now it is two months later, so what is happening with Tiger Woods?<\/span><\/p>\n

Woods Taking a Break From Golf<\/span><\/h2>\n

Shortly after the DUI, Tiger Woods decided that it was time for him to take a break from golf for his own health<\/a>.\u00a0 This was as he was just getting back into the sport after a year-long recovery period, intertwined with injuries and surgeries.\u00a0 His doctors did tell him that he was good to play for the 2026 season, but Woods was taking it easy at first, sitting out a few events before the Masters.\u00a0 He then made a return to the TGL for its season finale,<\/a> playing for his team, the Jupiter Links.\u00a0 Unfortunately, they didn\u2019t win any of the rounds.<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked about Woods possibly returning in 2026, specifically for the US Open, USGA CEO Mike Whan expressed doubt.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

“I’d be super surprised,” Whan said.\u00a0 “It would be wonderful for the event, and if he was ready, it would be wonderful for him.\u00a0 Obviously, what he’s going through is much bigger than golf,” Whan told SI. “He’s proven before that when he puts his mind to something, he’s going to be great at it. I’m sure he has a lot of years to play USGA championships. I don’t think he’s going to play in any 2026 USGA championship. If he ends up playing in USGA championships, great. But when I think of Tiger, my friend, that’s not really what’s important to me right now.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The DUI Case<\/span><\/h2>\n

Since the initial DUI,<\/a> Tiger Woods has been in a rehab clinic in Switzerland.\u00a0 He only just got back, and in that time, the case has progressed.\u00a0 The prosecution has been granted access to Woods\u2019 prescriptions, as he was found with prescription painkillers in his pocket at the time of the arrest.\u00a0 He did try to block the order due to privacy concerns, but the request from Woods was blocked.\u00a0 However, because of the privacy concerns, that order was put under heavy restrictions.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n

The list of prescriptions is not to be seen by eyes outside of the court case, and by Woods\u2019 doctor.\u00a0 Any leaker would be held in contempt of court.\u00a0 It will also not be part of any public release of the court records.\u00a0 The goal of the prescription list is to see if any of the medicines Woods was taking would affect his judgment in activities like driving.<\/span><\/p>\n

Woods On The Case<\/span><\/h2>\n

Tiger Woods still maintains that he was not guilty of a DUI, but rather distracted driving.\u00a0 There is still a long process in this case, and in the interim, Woods is seeking further treatment for himself.\u00a0 In the meantime, Woods\u2019 lawyer is fighting the DUI charge and is working to get it dropped.<\/span><\/p>\n
