{"id":438152,"date":"2026-05-08T15:02:50","date_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=438152"},"modified":"2026-05-08T15:02:50","modified_gmt":"2026-05-08T15:02:50","slug":"jon-rahm-and-dp-world-tour-reached-an-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/jon-rahm-and-dp-world-tour-reached-an-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Jon Rahm And DP World Tour Reached An Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the 2027 Ryder Cup, Jon Rahm was in a conundrum.\u00a0 His <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/jon-rahm-puts-ryder-cup-status-at-risk\/\" target=\"_self\">status\u00a0<\/a><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/jon-rahm-puts-ryder-cup-status-at-risk\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">with the European team was threatened<\/a> by unpaid fines and contractual disputes\u00a0<\/span>with the two leagues.\u00a0 This has been an ongoing situation for Rahm for months now, but Jon Rahm can now say that the standoff is done and his Ryder Cup position is no longer in jeopardy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Dispute<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For months now, Jon Rahm has disputed with the DP World Tour over fines that he saw as unfair and unjustified.\u00a0 This was coming off of an older case when Rahm appealed the fines back in 2023, and the panel overseeing the issue ruled in favor of the DPWT.\u00a0 The DPWT was willing to compromise with<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/rory-mcilroy-just-told-two-golf-stars-to-pay-6-million-and-fans-are-not-having-it\/\" target=\"_self\"> Rahm, pay off the previous fines,<\/a> and go to some select DP events, and he would be free to play on LIV without penalty.\u00a0 Rahm claims that the fines were unjustified because a few of the LIV events in question had no competing DPWT event.\u00a0 The appeal Rahm filed this year had the potential to cost him his Ryder Cup spot based on the timeline alone.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jon Rahm Reaches A Deal<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now Jon Rahm is out telling reporters that he finally struck a deal with the DP World Tour.\u00a0 <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=IzUX3A_OL1Y\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rahm delivered the news<\/a> during LIV Golf\u2019s recent Virginia event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThere\u2019s no longer a standoff,\u201d Rahm said. \u201cWe were able to reach an agreement. There was some concessions on both sides. I offered some; they extended an olive branch. Obviously, we\u2019ve reached an agreement. That will not be a stress anymore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rahm didn\u2019t share too many details about the agreement, but a major one was that the minimum number of DPWT events was to be reduced to four.\u00a0 The final agreement had it at five, four of which are in a five-week stretch.\u00a0 So that is at least one of the concessions Rahm was alluding to.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rahm was then asked about his LIV contract, given the current situation with its long-term stability, and he said the following about it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAs of right now, I have several years on my contract left, and I\u2019m pretty sure they did a pretty good job when they drafted that.\u201d\u00a0 Rahm said, \u201cSo I don\u2019t see many ways out, and as of right now, I\u2019m not really thinking about it since we still have a season to play and majors to compete for.
