{"id":438139,"date":"2026-04-29T00:01:37","date_gmt":"2026-04-29T00:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=438139"},"modified":"2026-04-29T00:01:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T00:01:37","slug":"liv-golf-postponing-new-orleans-event-due-to-business-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-postponing-new-orleans-event-due-to-business-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"LIV Golf Postponing New Orleans Event Due To Business Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This year, LIV Golf got a new addition to its schedule for a summer event.\u00a0 That event was the New Orleans event, originally set for June 25-28.\u00a0 Another event set in an iconic city to go with the other American events.\u00a0 However, it was decided that LIV New Orleans will be <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.wdsu.com\/article\/new-orleans-live-golf-event-likely-postponed\/71141991\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">postponed until fall<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why Is LIV Golf Postponing The Event?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are a couple of reasons behind this postponement.\u00a0 The date puts it right in the middle of summer in the American South.\u00a0 A major concern, of course, is the heat creating a wet bulb effect and sending attendees and players into the hospital with heat stroke.\u00a0 There is also the possibility of viewership conflict, as it is the same weekend as the World Cup.\u00a0 Given the chance between that and a regular LIV event, most viewers will go with the World Cup.\u00a0 Another concern that has taken the spotlight is LIV Golf trying to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/greg-norman-believes-liv-golf-could-be-saved\/\" target=\"_self\">restructure its business model<\/a>.\u00a0 This one ties directly into the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-seeing-the-end\/\" target=\"_self\">PIF withdrawing its support<\/a> from the league, as the Saudi government has bigger financial concerns at the moment.\u00a0 The event is now being set for a smaller field with a different format.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Orleans And The Switch<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New Orleans has already invested a lot in the LIV event.\u00a0 The city reportedly spent $2 million on course improvements alone, and was planning another $5 million.\u00a0 The city was getting ready for big things to come with this event.\u00a0 New Orleans just held the Zurich Classic for the PGA and was ready for LIV to bring in similar numbers as that tournament.\u00a0 When LIV Golf decided to postpone, the Louisiana governor, Jeff Landry, and the Economic Development Secretary, Susan Bourgeois, put out a joint statement on the issue.\u00a0 It was mostly explaining what was happening as they thanked the league for being open and honest.\u00a0 <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/golf\/story\/_\/id\/48613413\/liv-golf-set-postpone-june-new-orleans-stop\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The statement went on<\/a> to say the following.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;We appreciate LIV&#8217;s good-faith efforts and look forward to maintaining our partnership as we continue conversations around an event later this year,&#8221;
