{"id":438097,"date":"2026-04-21T00:26:22","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T00:26:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/?p=438097"},"modified":"2026-04-21T00:26:22","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T00:26:22","slug":"brian-rolapp-and-the-future-of-liv-golfers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/brian-rolapp-and-the-future-of-liv-golfers\/","title":{"rendered":"Brian Rolapp And The Future Of LIV Golfers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last week, LIV Golf received some ground-shaking news.\u00a0 The<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/liv-golf-seeing-the-end\/\" target=\"_self\"> PIF was officially cutting off funding<\/a> for the golf league.\u00a0 This came as a surprise and a time for speculation on what would happen to the league.\u00a0 Most outlets suspect that this is spelling the end of LIV Golf, as it has received billions from the Saudi government.\u00a0 With speculation running rampant, Brian Rolapp is considering extending the Returning Membership program to the LIV players who could very well be without a league.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The PGA\u2019s Returning Membership<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier this year, Brian Rolapp launched a program for departing LIV players to rejoin the Tour.\u00a0 It was for a limited time only, and the qualifications were for a player to have won a major since 2022 and to make a $5 million charitable donation.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/golf\/brooks-koepkas-return-forces-the-pga-tour-to-answer-an-uncomfortable-question\/\" target=\"_self\">Brooks Koepka was the only one who took this deal<\/a> and made his grand return at the start of the 2026 season.\u00a0 There are, of course, other pathways back into the PGA Tour, but they are long processes that involve a one-year suspension period and earning a new Tour Card through any of the other leagues.\u00a0 The returning membership program could be an easy way to fast-track some of the bigger stars on LIV Golf.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brian Rolapp On The Program<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The news of LIV Golf losing its funding has, of course, reached the ears of Brian Rolapp.\u00a0 He is now facing the possibility of his Tour\u2019s rival league going up in smoke.\u00a0 <a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JoshACarpenter\/status\/2046272175674388486?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E2046272175674388486%7Ctwgr%5Eaf6898898a06371fc8b3d32d4b285c4b15ebd141%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.golfmagic.com%2Ftour%2Fpga-tour%2Fpga-tour-thinking-about-liv-golf-player-return-route-uncertainty-grows-over-leagues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rolapp went on the Pat McAfee Show<\/a> and gave some insight as to what is happening in the PGA Tour.\u00a0 When he was asked about an extended returning membership program, Rolapp didn\u2019t make any commitments but made it clear that something was brewing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI think we\u2019re thinking about it,\u201d said Rolapp. \u201cWe\u2019re reading all the same headlines you\u2019re reading. We don\u2019t know what\u2019s going on over there.\u00a0 Those guys are under contract, and we\u2019ll respect that. Brooks came back because he made a phone call and said, \u2018I\u2019m out of my contract, I\u2019m ready to come back.\u2019 So we are thinking about it. We\u2019ll react when we have an opportunity to react.\u00a0 I\u2019m interested in whatever makes the PGA Tour better.
