With the Masters starting this week, plenty of players are getting ready to tee up.\u00a0 More than a few of them are confident in their skills and are eyeing the trophy.\u00a0 Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are giving Scottie Scheffler a run for his money<\/a>.\u00a0 Others are coming in fresh off the winners’ podium in recent events, looking to bring that energy into the tournament.\u00a0 However, one player is not feeling the best going into the Masters, and that player is Sergio Garcia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sergio Garcia And The Masters<\/span><\/h2>\n

Back in 2017, Garcia managed to win the Masters Tournament and earned himself a green jacket.\u00a0 Since then, it has not been good for Garcia.\u00a0 Out of the seven times he has played the Masters since then, he has missed the cut six times.\u00a0 He knows that he needs to switch up his strategy and close the gap in order to make it this year.\u00a0 Competition is going to be incredibly stiff, especially with the aforementioned Rahm DeChambeau and Scheffler.\u00a0 Even McIlroy is coming back after his 2025 Grand Slam victory.\u00a0 Many players, like Gary Woodland, have specifically taken time off<\/a> just to prepare themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Garcia At The Augusta National<\/span><\/h2>\n

Players are already arriving at the venue and taking some practice time early in the week.\u00a0 Sergio Garcia is one of those players.\u00a0 During his rounds, he was talking to fans and getting a feel for the course, but he was off during that time.\u00a0 When asked about how he felt about his game, Garcia gave the following answer.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

“Not super happy at the moment, but we’re working, and we’ll see,” Garcia said. “We’ll see what happens throughout the week. Yeah, at the moment I’m not feeling amazing.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Not the best thing to hear from a player before the big game.\u00a0 Garcia\u2019s confidence is not quite there.\u00a0 However, he is also trying to look on the brighter side of things to stay somewhat positive.\u00a0 For one, the forecast shows little rain, and the fields should be firm and fair during the tournament.\u00a0 Garcia is also taking a positive look at some of the past tournaments he has played.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There’s obviously good and bad, I guess,” Garcia said. “But fortunately, there’s some really good moments here. You try to think a little bit of some of those that you’ve lived in the past, and hopefully you get more to build on.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost Time For The Masters<\/span><\/h2>\n

With how Garcia is feeling so close to the Masters, it doesn\u2019t sound like it would fill fans with confidence.\u00a0 He has had a rough history with the tournament after his win, so it isn\u2019t an unwarranted feeling.\u00a0 His positive outlook on the field and his memories are a good start, though.\u00a0 As stated before, all the best players are aiming for the win, even Rory McIlroy is looking to add another Masters trophy<\/a> to his collection.\u00a0 At the moment, however, Sergio Garcia is not feeling too good about his own skill, and that may affect how he plays this weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n
