In the weeks leading up to the Masters, there have been a lot of talks about Tiger Woods making his return to competitive golf.\u00a0 Between his surgeries on his back and Achilles tendon,<\/a> it has been some time since he has been able to play.\u00a0 Unfortunately, after an accident over the weekend, Woods has decided to step back until further notice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tiger Woods DUI<\/span><\/h2>\n

On March 27th, Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover accident.\u00a0 As per routine, he was given a breathalyzer test, but he refused a urine test for other substances.\u00a0 This has led to him being arrested on suspicion of DUI,<\/a> along with property damage and refusal to take the test.\u00a0 Further details on the incident revealed that Woods was feeling the side effects of a prescription.\u00a0 The deputy on the scene even found two hydrocodone pills on Woods.\u00a0 Woods was released later that night, but the charges have not been dropped.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking A Step Back<\/span><\/h2>\n

Previously, Tiger Woods said that he is eager to get back in the game.\u00a0 Especially around the Masters.\u00a0 He has stated that he loves the major and wants to be there.\u00a0 Going as far as confirming a seat at the table for the Champions Dinner.\u00a0 Woods even appeared on the finale of the TGL<\/a> and played for his team, the Jupiter Links.\u00a0 However, after his accident and arrest, Woods had some time to think and decided that it was best for himself to take a step back to focus on his health.\u00a0 Woods gave the following statement<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,\u201d Woods said. \u201cI am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.\u00a0 I\u2019m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones, and myself at this time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This means that Woods won\u2019t be appearing in any event until further notice.\u00a0 No majors for the foreseeable future, no regular events, and no PGA Champions events.\u00a0 Woods was due to appear in all of them in the near future, too, so fans can expect to wait a bit longer.\u00a0 Brian Rolapp has made a statement out of respect and said that his thoughts are with Woods and his family.\u00a0 Fred Ridley, the chairman of the Masters, lamented Woods’ absence but says that he will be there in spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tiger Woods Going Forward<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite the anticipation for his grand return, Tiger Woods will have to delay it further.\u00a0 His renewed focus on health will likely help him in the long run, as 2025 was one issue after another for him.\u00a0 This DUI has prompted calls for Woods to hire a chauffeur instead of driving himself.\u00a0 Nonetheless, for the time being, Woods is staying off the field.\u00a0 Hopefully, his next comeback can be what he wants it to be.<\/span><\/p>\n
